Kalib Starnes got involved in the martial arts at an early age. His primary styles are Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and Boxing and Muay Thai. He holds a blackbelt in JiuJitsu.
He has studied under prominent trainers such as UFC champion Royce Gracie, Helio Gracie, Rorion Gracie, Olympic boxing gold medalist Howard Davis, Jr., Commonwealth Champion, boxer Tony Pep, Olympic wrestler Colin Daynes.
In 2006 we was a semi-finalist on SpikeTV’s The Ultimate Fighter, training under UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock. In June 2006 Kalib made his professional debut in the UFC.
Notable opponents include Chris Leben, Tim Hague, Kendall Grove, Jason MacDonald, Yushin Okami, John Salter, Dave Herman, Patrick Cote, Joe Doerksen, Dwayne Lewis, Clay Davidson, Rodney Wallace, Falaniko Vitale, Hector Lombard, Nate Quarry and Alan Belcher.
Starns had 29 pro MMA fights. He was #1 Middleweight in Canada for 10 yrs, #2 Light Heavyweight in Canada 3 yrs, #2 Heavyweight in Canada 3 yrs, former NFC Middleweight Champion, former NFC Light Heavyweight Champion, former AFC Middleweight Champion, former AFC Light Heavyweight Champion, former XFC Heavyweight Champion.
He is now an active coach to the fight team at Eastside Boxing Club and trains individuals and groups both competitively and for fitness.
